Description
PranaOn Power Plant Protein in Acai Berry is one of two limited edition flavours the Australian vegan sports nutrition brand released in a 440g pouch, the other being Choc Cherry Coconut. The base is the same Power Plant formula the brand builds its range on: a blend of three plant proteins, golden pea, rice and Australian grown faba bean, with coconut medium chain triglycerides, added branched chain amino acids, a five enzyme digestive blend and Lactospore probiotic. What makes this one the Acai Berry is the acai powder and a vegetable powder used for colour, with the berry character coming through the natural flavour. The pouch holds 440g, which is ten 44g serves. It suits people who want their protein from plants, whether they train a few times a week or most days.
Product Strengths
- Stands in for a dairy protein shake.
- Taken after training or between meals, adding over 30 g to the day's protein intake.
- Three plant proteins: golden pea, rice and faba bean, which together carry all nine essential amino acids.
- Over 30g of protein per 44g serve in the Power Plant formula, printed on the front of the pouch.
- Acai powder gives this limited edition its berry character, with a vegetable powder used for colour rather than an artificial one.
- Added branched chain amino acids: leucine, isoleucine and valine on top of what the protein blend already supplies.
- Five enzyme digestive blend plus Lactospore probiotic (Bacillus coagulans), a shelf stable spore forming strain.
- Iron and zinc: 6.0mg of each per serve, which is 50 per cent of the recommended dietary intake.

Plant Protein
What does plant protein do?
Plant protein gives your muscles the protein they rebuild with after training, without any dairy. Soy has the most evidence, pea is the go-to if you avoid soy, and most tubs blend two sources.

Is Plant Protein right for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
Is plant protein as good as whey for building muscle?
Close, going by the evidence. Soy has been compared with animal protein across nine training trials and came out level for both strength and lean muscle. A separate 12-week study found no difference between plant-based and mixed diets once total daily protein was matched. Neither result covers rice, hemp or blends.
Can I call any of these a complete protein?
We don't, and be wary of a powder that does without showing an amino acid test for that exact product. Blending two sources is the usual way manufacturers address it, but we don't have a confirmed amino acid comparison, so we won't claim one. The test results on the pack are what count.
Does soy protein lower cholesterol?
We can't tell you that here. We haven't been able to confirm a study on cholesterol or blood fats for soy or any other plant protein, so we won't make that claim. Cholesterol is a conversation for your doctor, and not a reason to choose one powder over another.
