Description
Gen-Tec Pure Essential Amino Acids is an unflavoured free-form amino acid powder from Australian sports nutrition brand Gen-Tec Nutrition. Gen-Tec sources, blends and packs the powder itself, and a 4 g serve is made up entirely of amino acids: nine essential amino acids, the three branched-chain amino acids among them, plus the conditionally essential arginine, glutamine, glycine and tyrosine. It comes as both pack sizes, 200 g and 500 g. Essential amino acids have to come in from the diet, and the unflavoured powder is for sipping through a session or stirring into a drink at times when a full protein feed would sit too heavily.

Amino Acids
How do I choose an amino acid supplement?
Choose a blend of several in a powder, a single amino acid by name, or a mineral bound to an amino acid, like a selenium amino acid complex. Amino acids are protein's building blocks, and the label on the back tells you which one you've got.

Is Amino Acids right for you?
Common questions
Is 'amino acids' one ingredient?
No. It's a heading that covers single amino acids, blends of several, and minerals bound to an amino acid. These are different products with different rules in Australia, and each individual amino acid or mineral chelate has its own listing. The ingredients panel on the back tells you which one you're actually buying.
Why does a mineral product say 'amino acid' on the label?
Because the mineral is bound to an amino acid, which is what an amino acid chelate is. Calcium, iron, magnesium and manganese amino acid chelates each have their own entry on Australia's permitted ingredients list. So a product like that is really a mineral product, and it's best chosen by the mineral it contains.
