How the forms compare
Common questions
Is Creapure better than regular creatine monohydrate?
Not in what it does. Creapure is creatine monohydrate, so once it dissolves it's the same molecule as any other monohydrate, and no trial has compared the two head to head. What it offers is a named manufacturer, Alzchem in Germany, which states a minimum purity of 99.9 per cent and says every batch is tested. That's a manufacturing standard, not a better result.
Why does Creapure cost more than other creatine?
The difference is where it's made and how it's documented. Alzchem makes Creapure in Trostberg, Germany, and says each batch is tested, documented and certified before release. The creatine inside works the same way as any other monohydrate. If a named source matters to you, that's the reason to choose it. If it doesn't, an unbranded monohydrate does the same job.
Is Creapure hard on your kidneys?
In healthy people, the reviews say no. A 2025 meta-analysis found creatine causes a small rise in serum creatinine with no significant change in GFR, the measure of how well your kidneys filter. That rise can look odd on a blood test, so tell your doctor you take it. If you already have kidney disease, don't take creatine without medical advice.
