Description
Chef's Choice Guilt Free Natural Sweetness is pure xylitol, a sugar alcohol made from non-GMO corn and supplied as white crystals in a 500 g bag. Xylitol is the only ingredient, with no sugar, no additives and no artificial sweeteners alongside it. Use it in place of sugar in tea, coffee and smoothies, and in baking, custards and desserts.
Product Strengths
- A spoonable sugar substitute for hot drinks, baking and desserts.
- Sweetens without adding sugar, at less than 1 g of sugars per 100 g.
- Xylitol from non-GMO corn is the only ingredient.
- No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and no artificial sweeteners.
- Vegan friendly and kosher certified.
- Product of China, packed in Australia.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Vegan and kosher diets, and anyone cooking or drinking without sugar.
Not suitable for: Pets. Xylitol is dangerous to dogs even in small amounts, so keep the bag out of their reach.
Suggested Use
A serving is 4 g, and there are about 125 of them in the 500 g bag. Stir it into tea, coffee, smoothies and yoghurt, or use it in place of sugar in cakes, biscuits, custards and poached fruit. Xylitol is a polyol, so a large amount at once may have a laxative effect; start with a small quantity and build up.

What is xylitol?
Xylitol is a sugar alcohol made from plant fibre, a sweet swap for sugar. Use the loose granules for baking and hot drinks, or choose gum and mints when you want it ready to carry.

Is Xylitol right for you?
Common questions
What's the difference between loose xylitol and xylitol gum?
Loose xylitol comes as granules you spoon out to cook or stir with, so that's the bag you want for baking and hot drinks. Gum and mints already have the xylitol in them and are made to carry around. It's the same ingredient either way. What changes is the format and what you can do with it.
Is xylitol regulated as a medicine in Australia?
Xylitol is a permitted ingredient in listed medicines (item 5228 of the Permissible Ingredients Determination), with no specific conditions attached. But xylitol sold as loose granules, gum or mints is a food, covered by the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code rather than the rules for medicines. We haven't found an approved health claim specific to xylitol, so there's no health claim we can make for it.
