Is vanilla extract regulated as a medicine in Australia?
Not when it's sold as a food, which is how we sell it. Vanilla extract does have its own entry on Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1, item 5136), where it can only be used as a flavour in a medicine, at up to 5% concentration. That entry has no permitted health claim.
