Description
Nutritionist Choice Wakame Flakes is a 50g packet of dried wakame, one ingredient. Wakame is the soft, silky sea vegetable you find in miso soup and green seaweed salad, and the dried flakes swell to many times their size in a couple of minutes of cold water, so a small pinch goes a long way. Rehydrate it and add it to miso soup, salads, rice bowls and broths.
Product Strengths
- One ingredient: dried wakame seaweed.
- Rehydrates in a couple of minutes of cold water and swells considerably, so a pinch is a serving.
- Soft and silky once rehydrated, just like the wakame in miso soup.
- Keeps in the cupboard, unlike fresh sea vegetables.
- A 50g packet.
Suitable For / Not Suitable For
Suitable for: Miso soup, seaweed salads, rice bowls and broths.
Not suitable for: Anyone with an allergy to the listed ingredients; anyone who has been told to limit their iodine intake, and anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding or managing a thyroid condition without speaking to their doctor or dietitian first, because seaweed carries iodine; and anyone avoiding seaweed. Check the pack for allergen information before you buy.
Ingredients
Dried wakame seaweed.
Seaweed brings iodine with it, which is worth a conversation with your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or managing a thyroid condition.
Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Suggested Use
- Soak a pinch in cold water for 2 to 5 minutes, then drain. It will swell a long way, so start with less than you think.
- Drop it straight into miso soup or a hot broth at the end of cooking.
- Dress the rehydrated flakes with rice vinegar, sesame oil and sesame seeds for a seaweed salad.
- Scatter it over a rice bowl or fold it through a cold noodle salad.
Allergens
Contains wakame seaweed.
Check the pack for allergen information. Sea vegetables are harvested from the ocean, so if you avoid fish or shellfish, contact us before you buy.
Always review label for full list of ingredients.
Warnings
Seaweed carries iodine, and regular or large servings add up. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, managing a thyroid condition or have been told to limit iodine, speak to your doctor or dietitian before eating it regularly.
Rehydrate before eating.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Once open, keep the flakes in an airtight container so they stay dry.
