Description
Nature's Own Ginkgo Biloba 2000mg is a single herb film coated tablet made with a standardised ginkgo leaf extract. Each tablet carries 40 mg of extract, equivalent to 2 g of minimum dry leaf, standardised to 10.56 mg of ginkgo flavonglycosides and 2.64 mg of ginkgolides and bilobalide, so every tablet is consistent. It maintains cognitive function, memory and mental recall in adults and maintains healthy blood circulation. Take three tablets a day with food.

Ginkgo Biloba
What is ginkgo biloba?
Ginkgo biloba comes from the leaf of the ginkgo tree, and most of what we stock is a leaf extract in tablets or capsules. Choose it on its own or blended with other herbs.

Is Ginkgo Biloba right for you?
Common questions
What is the Australian condition on ginkgo, and does it affect what I buy?
Item 2357 on Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1) allows ginkgo biloba in a listed medicine, with one condition on the extract. The ginkgo leaf extract used to make the medicine has to pass Identification Test B of the United States Pharmacopeia monograph for Powdered Ginkgo Extract. That's an identity test on the raw material, so it's the manufacturer's job rather than yours. For you, it means the extract in an Australian listed ginkgo product has had to prove it's the plant it says it is.
Is there an approved health claim for ginkgo in Australia?
We didn't find one. We checked the full list of permitted uses (Parts 1 to 17 of Schedule 4) and none is linked to ginkgo biloba or item 2357, so there's no permitted health wording we can use for this herb. Being a permitted ingredient means ginkgo can lawfully go into a listed medicine. It doesn't say what that medicine can claim, and it isn't a government endorsement of the herb.
What's the difference between ginkgo leaf extract and dried ginkgo leaf?
The rules treat them as two different things under one name. The identity test at item 2357 applies to the leaf extract used in manufacturing, and the rules say plainly that it doesn't apply to powdered or dried leaf. Every ginkgo product we stock is an extract in a tablet or capsule. We don't have figures comparing the two, so we won't give one here.
