Flours
How do I choose a flour for baking?
Pick the flour that suits what you're baking and what you'd like to avoid. Almond, coconut, quinoa, spelt, rice, potato and green banana flour are all here, ground from grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and roots.

Is Flours right for you?
Common questions
What's the difference between all these flours?
Wheat and spelt both contain gluten and behave in a similar way in baking. Almond, coconut, rice, quinoa, potato and green banana flour don't, which is why people choose them when they're avoiding wheat or gluten. Each one soaks up liquid and browns differently, so a recipe written for one flour won't always work with another.
Are flours regulated as a supplement in Australia?
No. Flour is sold and used as a food under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, not under medicine rules. A few flours, such as soybean flour, appear on Australia's permitted ingredients list, but only as a non-active ingredient inside a listed medicine, never as a claim about the food you're buying.
