Bone Broth & Stocks
What is bone broth?
Bone broth is bones and connective tissue simmered for hours into a rich, savoury stock. Grab it ready to drink from the fridge aisle, or use it as a base for soups, risottos and sauces.

Is Bone Broth & Stocks right for you?
Common questions
What's the difference between bone broth and stock?
Not much. Both are made by simmering animal bones and connective tissue in water for hours, often with vegetables and a splash of vinegar. "Stock" is the older kitchen name, and "bone broth" became the usual term once it started being sold as a drink rather than just a cooking base. Recipes and labels use the two words interchangeably. The small jars of thick paste are different: those are reduced right down into bone broth concentrate.
Is bone broth regulated as a medicine in Australia?
No. We found no entry for "Bone Broth", "Bone Broth & Stocks" or "Stock" on Australia's permitted ingredients list (Schedule 1), so it isn't a permitted ingredient for a listed medicine in its own right. It's sold as a food instead, under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. Collagen has its own entry as a separate ingredient, but that doesn't carry over to bone broth in general unless a product's own label supports a collagen claim.
