Description
Evolution Botanicals EVO+ Protein Smooth Chocolate is an ACO certified organic plant protein powder carrying 21 g of protein in a 30 g serve. The protein comes from organic ioPea, a sprouted and fermented pea protein made from Canadian golden peas and put through the Ingredient Optimized process, blended with hydrolysed rice protein; together they make up 79% of the powder, with cocoa powder the next ingredient after them and cacao powder further down the list, the two giving it a dark chocolate flavour. Alongside them sit 1500 mg a serve of a mushroom powder blend of cordyceps, turkey tail and tremella, coconut milk powder for body, bromelain from pineapple, and 1.7 billion CFU at input of the Bacillus coagulans culture. It is sweetened with stevia, with no added sugar and no artificial flavours, preservatives or additives. Blend 30 g into cold water, a milk alternative or a smoothie after training or between meals.

Functional Mushrooms
How do I choose a functional mushroom?
Match the mushroom to the job you have in mind: cordyceps has been tested in athletes, lion's mane for memory and thinking, and reishi for recovery. Each one brings beta-glucan, a fibre your immune cells meet in your gut wall.

Is Functional Mushrooms right for you?
How the forms compare
Common questions
Are all functional mushrooms basically the same?
No, and that's the most useful thing to know. They all contain beta-glucan, a fibre, but the research is completely different for each one. Cordyceps has endurance trials in athletes. Lion's mane has small trials on thinking and memory. Reishi has been tested for heart risk factors and didn't help. Choose the mushroom for your reason rather than a blend of eight.
What's the difference between fruiting body and mycelium on grain?
The fruiting body is the mushroom you'd recognise, and it's what Australia's permitted ingredients list normally means. Mycelium grown on grain isn't separated from the rice or oats it grew on, so part of what's in the tub is grain rather than mushroom. Neither is wrong, but they're not the same thing, and the label should tell you which one you're getting.
Why does maitake carry a warfarin warning?
Australian law requires it on any maitake medicine taken by mouth or under the tongue: do not take while on warfarin therapy without medical advice. Maitake is the only functional mushroom on Australia's permitted ingredients list with that warning. If you take warfarin or any blood thinner, bring the pack to us or your doctor before you start, whichever mushroom you're looking at.
