SIBO (Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth) is a condition where the bacteria that are found in the large intestine have overgrown into the small intestine.
It is the main cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The gases produced by the bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine can damage the intestinal wall.
Unfortunately SIBO usually goes undiagnosed as the major cause of IBS.
