7 signs you have SIBO

7 signs you have SIBO
  • Health advice
  • Oct 26, 2016
SIBO (Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth) is a condition where the bacteria that are found in the large intestine have overgrown into the small intestine. It is the main cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The gases produced by the bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine can damage the intestinal wall. Unfortunately SIBO usually goes undiagnosed as the major cause of IBS.

Want to stop the bloat?

Are you one of those people whose stomach swells so much after eating that you have to loosen the cloths you are wearing? Do you wonder why sometimes your belly is flat and other times it’s bulging?

What are the main signs and symptoms of SIBO?

  • Bloating
  • Abdominal pain
  • Constipation or diarrhoea or alternating between the two
  • Increasing food sensitivities
  • Gluten intolerance
  • Stressed of anxious
  • Chronic bladder issues
As well as these signs there are many health conditions that are associated with SIBO:
  • Acne Rosacea
  • Coeliac Disease
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Diverticulitis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Low thyroid function
  • Non-alcoholic fatty liver
  • Prostatitis (chronic)
  • Restless leg syndrome
  • Schleroderma

Do you have SIBO?

The good news is that SIBO can be diagnosed with a simple, non-invasive breath test. The gases produced (methane and hydrogen) by the bacterial overgrowth are not naturally produced by the human body. These gases enter the blood stream where they are exhaled. To test, you need to do a specific and easy prep diet so that the gases produced can be easily assessed by the breath test. The test is easy and is done in the comfort of your home.

What can you do to get rid of SIBO?

Once diagnosed your practitioner will put you on a specific diet plan supported with the appropriate supplements. You will find the diet easy to follow.
