The exotic blue flower of the passionfruit vine, along with the young stems and leaves are used medicinally to treat restlessness and sleep disorders.
Useful as a tea or as a herbal extract, modern studies support traditional use.
When to use Passionflower
Helpful to the nervous system as a relaxant, the following are specific conditions for which this herb is indicated: :
|Anxiety||Insomnia due to mental restlessness|
|Nervous stomach||Nervous tachycardia|
|Overactive brain||Hyperactive children|
|Nerve pain||Twitching of legs or arms|
Although considered a safe herb, even natural medicines need care. Always tell your doctor of any supplements you are taking.
Care should be exercised using passionflower, with sedative medication or blood pressure lowering medication. It should not be used in pregnancy as it may cause contractions, and not in used in breastfeeding, as i may cause drowsiness.
